  The inaugural edition of At-Tafakkur: Journal of Islamic Studies Vol. 1 No. 1 (2025) presents five scholarly articles that reflect contemporary dynamics in Islamic education and character formation amid societal transformation. The discussions span critical issues such as child-friendly education in the face of sexual violence and bullying, the relevance of essentialist philosophy in shaping Islamic character, and the integration of Islamic cultural values in school-based character development. Further contributions explore constructivist philosophy within learner-centered Islamic education and analyze the challenges of character formation in the Society 5.0 era through the lens of Islamic educational philosophy. Collectively, these works underscore the urgency of reconstructing Islamic education on the foundations of tauhid, akhlaq, and spiritual humanism to respond to technological and social change with depth and vision.
